British Virgin Islands Cruises

Discover Bridgetown and beyond

Boasting beautiful white-sand coasts and world-class dive sites, the British Virgin Islands is a premier cruise destination with idyllic island-hopping adventures and excellent yachting experiences! Each island is wrapped in quaint coastal charm and fringed by reef-lined beaches, so whether you’re strolling on the shores or exploring the underwater — a British Virgin Islands cruise offers a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city!

Tortola is the largest of this roughly 40-island chain, home to several stunning beaches including Cane Garden Bay and Smuggler’s Cove. The British Virgin Island’s capital, Road Town, is also located in the port of Tortola. Wandering around the capital, you’ll see brightly-coloured buildings housing shops, restaurants and bars. Another famous island is the Virgin Gorda, famed for The Baths — a rocky labyrinth of enormous boulders forming crystal clear pools and seawater-flooded grottoes. If you’re looking for a tranquil spot, head to the coral island of Anegada. The British Virgin Islands are a Caribbean vacationer’s dream, so are you ready for your next Caribbean Island cruise?

British Virgin Islands Cruise Highlights

Cane Garden Bay, Tortola

Lined by swaying coconut trees, the seafloor of Cane Garden Bay slopes gently into warm shallows. The bay’s curved shape protects it from the high winds, making it an excellent spot for watersports like snorkelling, windsurfing and paddle boarding. Lush mountains offer a dramatic backdrop on the beach area, while the scenic sunsets and bobbing yachts are the postcard-perfect views on the sea. Cane Garden Bay turns up as the night falls with live music and happy hours!

The Baths at Virgin Gorda

The Baths are set on the sleepy shores of Virgin Gorda, characterised by a series of towering boulders lying on the shores. The spectacular rock formations are the aftermath of volcanic activity millions of years ago. Splash in the lagoons or don your snorkel and discover the rich marine life beneath the shallow waters, where the beach is dominated by enormous slabs of granite forming little caves and sun-dappled passageways between them…

Sage Mountain National Park, Tortola

This sprawling protected park is where you’ll find the highest peak in the British Virgin Islands, which it was named after. Sage Mountain soars at a height of 1,716 feet, providing uninterrupted views across the entire archipelago at the summit. The Sage Mountain National Park is the first in the British Virgin Islands and the beginning of conservation in the territory. There are 12 looped trails to choose from — all of them pass through different forests filled with mahogany trees.

Things to Do In The British Virgin Islands

Soak up history at Copper Mine National Park, Virgin Gorda

History buffs should take a tour of the Copper Mine National Park, perched on a cliff overlooking the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. The landmark dominates the Mine Hill and contains the ruins of an abandoned 19-century copper mine, reflecting the different eras of the island’s history. It’s believed that Ameridians were the first to mine copper here, followed by the Spaniards and the Cornish. You’ll see the remnants of how the Cornish lived in the place, from their old houses to the mine shafts that they used.

Take a ferry out to the Anegada Island

Sailing is one of the must-try adventures to do in the British Virgin Islands and the low-lying island of Anegada is one of the most picturesque destinations to visit on a ferry! There are over 300 shipwrecks to explore beneath the blues of the island while the pristine shores are often dotted with flamingos, rock iguanas and rare plant species. Anegada is also known as the “Drowned Island” because the highest point is just 28 feet above sea level, giving a unique vibe of being up close and personal with the seas!

Sample the popular “Painkiller” cocktail

The Painkiller is the local specialty drink of the British Virgin Islands. It’s a tropical refreshment that blends rum, pineapple juice, coconut cream and orange juice together, and topped off with shredded nutmeg. One of the best places to sample this popular rum-based cocktail is Soggy Dollar Bar in Jost Van Dyk, where the original recipe of this drink was created. If you’re going after a sentimental vibe, pop into the Pusser’s Road Town Pub in Tortola — a historic pub with a Victorian-themed interior.
