Barbados Cruises

Discover Bridgetown and beyond

Looking to spend some balmy days on the beach? Barbados is the perfect cruise getaway! The easternmost island in the Caribbean prides itself on being the birthplace of rum and the world-famous hip-hop singer Rihanna. Bursting with life and action, there’s a plethora of things to do on this sun-baked and windswept island. From adrenaline-pumping water sports to rum distillery tasting tours, this culturally rich island offers something for every discerning traveller.

In the capital, Bridgetown — the surroundings are unmistakably Caribbean but the ambience is decidedly British. The city is steeped with Victorian architecture stretching onto stunning white beaches. Soak up some sunshine in the palm-fringed Carlisle Beach with various shipwrecks and marine life to see. If you’re not in the mood for some sun, head to George Washington House and walk through the steep British garrison tunnels nearby to learn about Barbados’ storied past. For a taste of local life, visit Speightstown — a charming battered little colonial town on the west coast well worth exploring, with incredible ocean views and a real rustic feel. Complete your trip with a rum tasting tour and discover the secrets behind Barbados’ finest spirit…

Barbados Cruise Highlights

Harrison’s Cave

Harrison’s Cave is an extraordinary show-cave, featuring stalagmites and stalactites that will surely leave you in awe. You can also marvel at the flowing streams and deep sparkling pools, as well as spot green monkeys and beaded fig-trees, as you traverse the cave on a tram ride.  This well-preserved limestone cave is the main attraction of the eco-adventure park, but you can also get access to other exciting activities, such as the zipline, a challenging course and rum tasting tours.

Speightstown

Set on the west coast of Barbados is Speightstown — the island’s second-largest town, which keeps Barbadian history alive within its streets, evidenced by the brightly-coloured houses and old architecture that sheltered wealthy traders during the ancient times. Walking around the quaint locality, you’ll find an abundance of shops and museums to pop into, such as the Arlington House Museum with a cafe and ice cream parlour attached to the building. There are also vendors selling local produce and souvenirs.

Mount Gay Rum Distillery

What’s a trip to the Caribbean without South Caribbean Rum? Sample some of the world’s oldest rums at Mount Gay Rum Distillery.  Dubbed as a “rum lover’s paradise,” the distillery has been producing fine spirits for over 300 years and is considered one of the world’s oldest continuously running rum distilleries. Try your hand at mixing your own cocktails and grab a fabulous meal of the flying fish and Cou Cou — the national dish of Barbados — when it’s all over!
