Things to do in Morocco

Meander around Marrakech

Marrakech is a former imperial city in Morocco. A melting pot of culture, Marrakech has been influenced by diverse cultures including Berber, Arab, and Andalusian. Meander through the labyrinth of alleyways of the walled medina, which used to be a royal residence and a trading centre. Lying in the heart of the medieval city centre is Jemaa El Fna, an open-air square packed with souks (markets) and entertainment where locals and tourists gather. Within walking distance from the lively marketplace are the Koutoubia Mosque, the most recognisable landmark in Marrakech, and the 19th-century Bahia Palace.

Soak up some sunshine in Agadir

Sandy beaches and a dynamic surfing scene await in the coastal city of Agadir. Sitting along Morocco's southern Atlantic coast, Agadir is perfectly framed by a magnificent crescent-shaped beach on one side and the Atlas mountains on the other. This resort destination is known for its golf courses, awe-inspiring landscapes and an attractive marina. Soak up some sunshine on a beach and why not ride the waves in the nearby surf spot Imsouane? Agadir’s tranquil marina is also not to be missed, where you can enjoy views of the bobbing boats while taking a stroll on the promenade or dining in a waterfront restaurant.

Visit the Hassan II Mosque

Built at a colossal expense, Hassan II Mosque is one of the largest functioning mosques in Africa. This imposing mosque stands on reclaimed land along the Atlantic Ocean, with the breath-taking ocean backdrop adding to its irresistible beauty! The idyllic waterfront location of this Moroccan marvel is intentionally rooted from a Quran verse stating that the deity’s throne was built upon the water. Among the architectural highlights of the mosque are the towering minaret, intricate patterns carved into the interior cedar walls, a grand entrance door and majestic fountains. The grandiose mosque complex is open to everyone, including non-Muslims, for guided tours, and can accommodate over 100,000 worshippers.

Spend a night in the Sahara Desert

Take an epic camel ride, hop on a quad bike, catch the sunset on a sky-high sand dune, and marvel at the starry skies at the Sahara Desert – there’s plenty of things you can do in the vast African desert! The Sahara Desert is the world’s largest hot desert, spanning across Northern Africa, including the southern part of Morocco. Camping overnight Bedouin style in a cosy tent on the golden dunes of Sahara is an unmissable experience in Morocco, allowing you to fully immerse yourself with the culture and lifestyle of the semi-nomadic people on top of the endless activities you can try here!

Morocco Cruises FAQs

When is the best time for a Morocco cruise?

Morocco is an excellent year-round destination and the most ideal time to visit depends on your travel style and preferred experiences. Autumn (September to November) and spring (March to April) are the best seasons for pleasant weather. Summer is a high time for hitting the beach and soaking up some sunshine. You might also take note of the Ramadan dates if you wish to enjoy Morocco without much crowds, but keep in mind to stay respectful while the community is observing the holy period.

Which cruise lines go to Morocco?

Good news for our customers! Many of LoveitBookit’s partner cruise lines sail to Morocco, such as Celebrity Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Princess Cruises, MSC Cruises, and Royal Caribbean International.

Where do Morocco cruises go?

Morocco cruises stop at several port cities, including Casablanca, Tangier, Agadir and Safi.

Can you walk into Casablanca from the cruise port?

Casablanca is home to Morocco’s largest cruise port and among the biggest artificial ports in Africa. From the pier, it takes two kilometers to reach Casablanca but since it’s an industrial zone, walking is not highly recommended. Most cruise lines provide a transfer to the city centre, but taxis are readily available outside the cruise terminal.

Is there a tipping culture in Morocco?

Tipping is a custom practice and likely expected in Morocco, although not necessarily mandatory. It has become a common practice for certain services as the tourism in the country continually rises. Tipping is not only an act of courtesy but a deeply ingrained practice in the society as part of showing gratitude and appreciation for quality service.
