Mauritius Cruises

Mauritius

Mauritius is an Indian Ocean gem blessed with palm-fringed beaches, sapphire lagoons and colourful reef systems. It makes a perfect cruise destination for those in the search for sun, sand and sea! As well as the warm shores and blue waters, you can dive into Mauritius’s interesting history and culture. Mauritius is a slice of paradise – where concentric circles of open ocean, a sapphire lagoon and beaches of powdery white sand wrap around this gorgeous island.

Sailings to Mauritius lay anchor in Port Louis, the island’s charming capital and main port on the northwestern coast – known for its French colonial architecture and the 19th-century Champ de Mars horse-racing track. On the south of Port Louis, you’ll find the Black River Gorges National Park – the largest national park in the country. This sprawling park is a great way to learn about the local flora and fauna. This picture-perfect island is also home to a one-of-a-kind underwater waterfall – a remarkable optical illusion created by the rush of sediment and silt from the rivers plunging into the ocean. This tropical island is sure to captivate you at every turn, so why not plan a Mauritius cruise for your next holiday?

Mauritius Cruise Highlights

Black River Gorges National Park

Black River Gorges National Park is a vast national park in the hilly southwestern part of Mauritius. The lush green forests and rolling hills covering this 16,680-acre national park serve as a habitat to over 300 species of native and endemic flowering plants, as well as various species of birds that can exclusively be seen in Mauritius, including the country’s national bird – Mauritius kestrel. The park is best explored on foot, so just follow the hiking trails along the gorges and enjoy the extremely rich flora and fauna along the way.

Chamarel

Chamarel is a lovely village in the southwestern area of Mauritius, known for its many scenic locations and giant tortoises! The Seven Colored Earth Geographical Park, simply called Seven Colored Earth, is Chamarel’s crown jewel – an epic park of sand dunes that shines in seven different colours. Besides this colourful spectacle of nature and wildlife, the village is home to the staggering 272-feet Chamarel Waterfall – which is undoubtedly the tallest single-plunge waterfall in the country.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden

Nature lovers can spend a relaxing day doting on some 500 plant species in the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden. This landscaped green area is commonly referred to as Pamplemousses Botanical Garden and prides itself on being the oldest garden in the Indian Ocean. The giant water-lily pond, the red national flower of Mauritius, the spice garden and the towering palm trees are some of the garden’s main highlights, so be sure not to miss them during your visit.
